Welcome to the home of Near Encounters of the Bigfoot Kind.  This website is dedicated to those persons who have had a close encounter or a confrontation with a specimen of the unknown species commonly called Sasquatch and the men and women of the Bigfoot Community.

The site is maintained by The Sierra Sasquatch Research Group of California (SSRG).  See www.sierrasquatch.net

Our purpose here is not to discuss the subject of these encounters as there are adequate places to do this on the web.  We are trying to present for your viewing credible cases of close encounters and confrontations from a variety of credible sources.

We define a close encounter as one where the witness sees a Big Foot at about 100 yards or less and realizes they're viewing or hearing something which isn't normal wildlife.  They may experience extreme fear and anxiety along a wish to quickly leave the encounter area.

These fears are like PTSD which was experienced by Dr. Matthew Johnson in July of 2000.  His encounter is on our site and his paper about Bigfoot and PTSD can be found at:  http://www.strangeark.com/crypto/Cryptohominids.pdf page 118 of the pdf Adobe document.

We define a confrontation as an encounter generally at less than 100 feet.  The witness is subject to a maximum of extreme fear and anxiety whose affects may last for years or a lifetime.  The specimen of the species is deliberately allowing the witness to see and/or hear them with a motivation to drive them away from their territory or possibly harm them.  Witnesses to a confrontation do not generally wish to repeat an encounter under any circumstances and may go to great lengths to avoid the species.
